TECH CRUNCH -- June 30 -- Google launched an affiliate ad network. Or,
rather, it rebranded Performics, the affiliate ad network that came
along with its purchase of DoubleClick, as the "Google Affiliate
Network." The service isn't yet integrated into Google AdSense, but that would
be a logical next step. Google also continues to experiment with a pay-per-action

CHEMISTRY -- May 31 -- Chemistry.com's "Top
Performing Affiliate Contest" and "Most Improved Affiliate Contest"
will run from May 19, 2008, through June 15, 2008. The number of paid
subscriptions will determine the winner who will get a $500 Apple gift

FF -- May 31 -- Fling has added 9 niche tours for affiliates to better
target their traffic. The niches include Amateur, Asian, Big Ass, BBW,
Black and Latina. Fling will also have two $100 Special Promo Days next
week (Tuesday (06/03/08) and
Friday (06/06/08)) for all sales sent
through these niche tours. They also added these niche tours as a Tour
Page option to the Geo Thumbs Builder.
THE PARADIGM SHIFT -- May 22 -- If you use affiliate marketers based in
New York, you are now subject to new York Sales tax. This means eHarmony, Match.com, True.com and all other major sites with an
affiliate program are now subject to this law. The Law comes into full

PR WEB -- May 15 -- MatchLink, a product of Spark Network Services, is
pleased to announce the launch of its new affiliate program for
webmasters. For each conversion, MatchLink offers affiliates a 66%

FF -- May 8 -- Affiliates built FriendFinder to a $300 million a year revenue company. But affiliates don't want to build someone elses brand. They would rather build their own brand, and brand equity. I worked with FriendFinder as an affiliate manager in 2003 and have been surprised that they have not pushed their white labeling products more, since then. FriendFinder would far rather promote their own brand, as would most dating companies, but a number of white labeling companies are on the rise now. You can find a list here. White labeling is the last big opportunity in internet dating because it allows mega-affiliates, and entrepreneurs, and online media of all types, to build their own brands and utilize the economies of scale of working in a network. The little guys get economies of scale. The guys who have lots of traffic, but don't have the time or inclination to build their own dating site can use white labeling to get up and running quickly.
